Serial Device Servers
Serial Device Servers, also known as Serial Port Servers, connect machines, controllers, measuring devices, sensors, and other serial peripherals to Ethernet and TCP/IP networks. They enable Serial over Ethernet for existing RS-232, RS-422, and RS-485 interfaces, serving as a Serial-to-Ethernet solution for integrating existing devices into IP-based networks.
For RS485 Ethernet and RS232 Ethernet applications, existing serial components can be reused in Ethernet infrastructures without major changes. Features such as Virtual COM and TCP as well as UDP operation modes support various communication scenarios. Depending on the model, multiple devices can be connected via one, two, or four serial ports. For reliable use as an Industrial Device Server, model-dependent features such as ESD protection, LAN redundancy, and isolation are available. Variants with Wide Operating Temperature are also suitable for more demanding environmental conditions, while security features according to IEC 62443-4-2 support secure device communication.
